Naturally, the Motorola K1 also has a camera like practically every modern mobile phone nowadays. Its camera has a resolution of 2 Megapixels with a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. That's a good resolution for a mobile phone. Gradually, more mobile phones with 1.3 Megapixels are making the switch to 2 Megapixels. This does not automatically mean better picture quality. I was very disappointed in the quality of the photos taken by the Motorola KRZR K1: I've tested phones with less resolution that took far better pictures than the Motorola K1. In general, the photos were blurred and grainy. They were even worse in twilight or in the dark. In fact they were so bad that they are not even good for taking a quick snap shot. What was funny was if you select the camera function and fold the phone shut, you can use the little screen to make a self-portrait.

Both the camera button on the left of the phone and the confirmation key function as a shutter release. The Motorola K1's camera reacts almost immediately, but there is still a very slight interval of release. This doesn't reflect badly on Motorola as an interval of release on mobile phone cameras is the rule rather than the exception. Even cameras in top of the range mobile phones have this. If you press the left key under the screen, by options, you can switch quickly from camera stand to video stand. The Motorola KRZR K1 saves its photos on the internal memory of 20MB or on a microSD memory card. The memory card is placed under the flap that also conceals the battery. This is nice because you don't have to remove the battery to replace or remove the card.

You can get to the Motorola KRZR K1's settings menu via the screen options. There are different choices available. You can set brightness and contrast. You can also use settings to mirror a photo or use the 'Blur' function to make the photo totally "blurry". You can also send the photo directly to another camera with the settings menu. You can either use MMS or send a photo with Bluetooth if you are together with friends.

You can enlarge the Motorola KRZR K1's internal memory with a microSD memory card. This makes it possible to save even more numbers and photos in the Motorola K1. The memory card lock is behind the flap that also conceals the battery. Luckily, you don't have to remove the battery whenever you want to change the memory card. You can transfer the files on the microSD memory card to a computer or notebook via Bluetooth, USB or IrDA. Of course, you could also choose to send a photo by MMS, or read the microSD card via a card reader and transfer the files to a computer.
