Pantech Group, the number two mobile phone manufacturer in South Korea, announced the launch of the IM-U140 handset, a satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) handset that provides users with a genuinely unique mobile phone experience via its innovatively designed display screen. The LCD display is designed to pop up automatically at a 30 degree angle when users push a button next to the screen, optimizing user’s angle of view. The display adds significantly to users’ enjoyment of movies and TV programs, maximizing the user-friendly nature of the phone. The 2.6-inch wide QVGA LCD is the largest display featured on a DMB handset in Korea, further augmenting the portable TV viewing experience.

Pantech Group, one of the world’s fastest growing handset manufacturers, announced today the launch of five new handsets as part of plans to further build its share of the rapidly expanding mobile phone market in Latin America. The five handsets will be made available through Telcel, the largest mobile service operator in Latin America. Pantech, which established a dedicated subsidiary in Mexico last year, plans to increase its share of the local market by expanding the range of Pantech models on offer to Mexican consumers.

Pantech Group's up-to-date fingerprint recognition technology has attracted public attention.
Australian IT online media “MobileWhack” reported on this 28th that a fingerprint phone “Pantech PG-6200” has received approval by American FCC and thus biometrics security system has been realized formally. In the first paragraph of the report, favorable comment is given as “Biometrics has been embodied through Pantech’s PG-6200”, this phone which has obtained approval by FCC is one of the world advanced phones built in fingerprint recognition function.”

Pantech Wireless, Inc. - the U.S. based subsidiary of Pantech Group, the number two mobile company in South Korea - and Disney Mobile today jointly announced plans for the DM-P100, the first wireless handset in the Disney Mobile portfolio. At the CTIA Wireless 2006 trade show in Las Vegas, the two companies said the new mobile phone was scheduled to hit the U.S. market with the launch of Disney Mobile this summer. Disney Mobile is the first comprehensive mobile service built specifically for families. It will include custom handsets, extensive entertainment content, and an innovative package of features and applications that meet the unique communication needs of families.

Pantech Co., Ltd., Korea’s leading mobile phone manufacturer, announced that its PG-1410 has been selected for one of the Christmas promotional packages by CTI Movil, the Argentine affiliate of American Movil - the largest mobile carrier in Latin America. CTI Movil will launch a promotional event in time for the Christmas holidays, backed by one of Disney’s popular movies . Pantech Group, the leading Korean handset manufacturer, today announced that it has been once again honored at the prestigious iF(International Forum) Design Award for excellence and innovation in the design of cellular phones and packaging, marking the third consecutive year since 2004. Four of the company’s products were recognized by the iF Design Award: ‘SP5’ and ‘HC1’ in Consumer Electronics / Telecommunicatons category, ‘Flexus 03’ in Advanced Studies, and ‘One touch open cap’ in packaging design. At 2006 iF Design Award, Pantech received the awards in recognition of three models; one commercial handset and two advanced concept models.

Pantech Group, the leading Korean handset manufacturer, has announced the launch of the IM-U160 handset, a new terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) handset that can be effectively used as a portable TV with its wide LCD screen. The new terrestrial DMB phone will be launched in Korea under Pantech’s SKY brand, the leading Korean premium mobile phone brand. It will be supplied to all the major wireless operators in Korea, SK Telecom, KTF and LG Telecom.

The launch, in partnership with TELUS, marks the first time that Pantech has provided handsets under its own brand in Canada. Targeted at young trend setters, the slim, modern PN-3200 handset combines a sophisticated design with practical and wide ranging functionality, including Bluetooth applications. Pantech has increased its presence in the North American market in recent months with enhanced brand awareness and direct supplies to operators.
