Palm, Inc. and Globe Telecom introduced the Palm Treo 680 smartphone, a GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band world phone, in the Philippines. Globe customers will find the Treo 680 smartphone easy to use, slim and compact, yet packed full of features beyond its stellar phone capability, such as email, web browsing, messaging, multimedia, calendar, contacts and more. Palm believes this product, which is available now, will appeal to feature-phone users who want a more capable mobile-computing device.

SingTel, Palm, Inc. and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the first availability of BlackBerry Connect for the Palm Treo 650 smartphone. With BlackBerry Connect, SingTel customers now have a wider choice of devices that support the robust and secure BlackBerry services and a wider choice of wireless email solutions that support the feature-rich Treo 650. Palm today announced the Palm Treo 750v smartphone, the first Treo smartphone to take advantage of Vodafone's 3G/UMTS network. The Treo 750v brings the Palm experience on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 to Europe for the first time. The new Treo 750v will be available first to Vodafone customers in the following countries: Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and other regions by the end of the calendar year.

Palm announced a software update for the Palm Treo 700w smartphone from Verizon Wireless that will enable the Windows Mobile Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP), which includes Direct Push Technology. The free update, which is expected to be available later this month, gives Treo 700w smartphone users fast, automatic wireless updates of their email, calendar items, contacts and tasks, allowing IT managers to deliver this information directly from Exchange Server 2003 SP2 without incurring additional third-party infrastructure costs.
