Research In Motion and Sprint announced plans to launch a new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet model featuring connectivity to the blazingly fast Sprint 4G network. The 4G BlackBerry PlayBook will be the first BlackBerry PlayBook model to include wide area wireless connectivity, featuring Sprint 4G to give customers download speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. This new 4G BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to be available from Sprint in the summer. Together, the 4G BlackBerry PlayBook and the Sprint 4G network will provide a high performance platform that will enable a mobile services revolution for both application developers and customers.

DivX and Samsung Electronics announce at the IFA trade show that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the world's first DivX Certified tablet. The Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab will now power DivX HD video playback at home or on the go. Available to consumers first in Europe late September 2010 and soon after in the United States and Asia, the Samsung Galaxy Tab has a large 7-inch TFT display, which delivers an unrivaled screen quality for a better viewing experience. Weighing in at only .84 pounds (380g), it includes 16 GB or 32GB of internal storage and 32 GB MicroSD expansion. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet features a TouchWIZ user interface, WiFi, GPS, rear and front facing cameras and also acts as a mobile phone.

Samsung Electronics was demonstrating the world’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) netbook PC at Mobile World Congress 2010. Samsung’s own in-house designed LTE modem chipset, Kalmia, enabled the development of a small form factor netbook with LTE capability. Following the company’s latest deployment of a commercial LTE dongle, Samsung reasserts its industry-leading position in next generation mobile technology with the largest line-up of devices. Alongside the world’s first demonstration of the LTE netbook N150, Samsung also showcased an extensive line-up of Samsung netbooks and note PCs at the show including the Samsung N210, N220 and Samsung NB30.
