Sharp Electronics has been showcasing its Galapagos tablets and cloud-based bookstore service at CES Show in Las Vegas. Utilizing its proprietary XMDF (ever-eXtending Mobile Document Format), Galapagos will present an enhanced e-reading experience to consumers by providing rich content, an intuitive user interface and periodic software updates. The Sharp Galapagos tablets and e-bookstore service will offer consumers wide access to e-books, movies, games, and music. An optional Automated Scheduled Delivery Service will deliver the most updated newspapers and magazines to the user’s “door” wherever a wireless connection is available.

Panasonic has developed a new smart terminal called the Panasonic VIERA Tablet to enable easy access to a variety of cloud services in conjunction with the Panasonic VIERA digital televisions. The Panasonic VIERA Tablet, which will be put in the global market within this year, marks Panasonic’s first step toward cloud-based services including video streaming and e-books. Various prototypes of the new Panasonic tablet have been showcased at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas.

Panasonic has announced three new Full HD camcorders to its 2011 camcorder line, the Pansonic HDC-TM900, HDC-HS900 and HDC-SD800. The new full-HD camcorders feature 1920x1080 pixel resolution with 1080/60p recording detailed videos, and can also shoot 3D videos when used with Panasonic’s optional 3D Conversion Lens (Panasonic VW-CLT1 3d lens). Incorporating Panasonic’s 3MOS system - an technology used in professional equipment - the Panasonic camcorders record bright, low-noise videos, even in low lighting. Other features include a manual ring (Panasonic TM900 / HS900) for increased creativity, a 20x zoom and an 3.5” touchscreen LCD on the Panasonic TM900 and HS900.

Pandigital has expanded its line of innovative photo scanners with a new model - the Pandigital Portable Photo Scanner / Personal Converter - that can scan print photos up to 8 ½ x 11-inches large. Simple to use, the Pandigital Portable Photo Scanner and Converter requires no Personal Computer to convert print photos into digital images. Consumers can simply plug it in, insert their photo through the slim photo scanner, and, with a single touch of a button, scan photos onto the included SD memory card.
