ProClip USA announced a variety of device holders designed to securely mount the Apple iPhone 3GS to car, truck and SUV dashboards and consoles. These holders, designed and manufactured by Brodit AB in Sweden, are custom made and attach to vehicle specific ProClip dashboard mounts. Once this two part solution (Device Holder plus Vehicle Mount) is attached, to the dashboard, the solution provides better viewing and easier access. ProClip holders may also be attached to other manufacturers’ vehicle mounts or any other flat surface.

Garmin, manufacturer in satellite navigation, announced the Garmin Dakota 10 and Dakota 20 handheld GPS navigators, packing a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, worldwide basemap and color touchscreen display into a compact, waterproof device with up to 20 hours of battery life. Lightweight, rugged and waterproof, Garmin’s new Dakota GPS handheld devices quickly acquire and maintain satellite reception - even in heavy tree cover or deep canyons - thanks to a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix, which automatically calculates and stores critical satellite information and can use that information to quickly calculate a GPS position.

Nokia introduced the new Nokia 3720 classic, an IP-54 certified mobile phone designed to resist water, dust and shock. Following the footsteps of Nokia's highly popular 'rugged' cell phones of the past, the Nokia 3720 classic handset is encased in durable materials and is entirely sealed to protect the inner electronics. The Nokia 3720 cell phone is expected to retail for approximately 125 Euro before subsidies or taxes and is expected to begin shipping this summer.

According to a recent study from ABI Research, sixty six percent of revenues earned from mobile phone accessories are generated in the aftermarket. This percentage is only expected to grow with time, following a market trend to move more and more accessories "out of the box" and onto retailers' shelves according to ABI research. "Mobile operators and mobile phone vendors see that the only return from including a subsidized accessory included in the mobile phone box is customer satisfaction," comments industry analyst Michael Morgan. "While that isn't without some intangible value, on the retail shelf a mobile phone accessory is a high-margin product that will generate actual income."
