At the 2008 International CES here this week, LG Electronics is demonstrating products that incorporate new circuitry for receiving the robust ATSC-compatible MPH (Mobile-Pedestrian-Handheld) signals. Developed by LG Electronics, its U.S. R&D subsidiary Zenith and Harris Corporation, MPH is capable of providing robust over-the-air DTV signals to mobile, pedestrian and handheld devices. The prototype MPH products showcased at CES (in private demonstrations and in the LG Electronics booth #8214, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) include mobile phones, personal DTVs, laptop PCs and in-car infotainment systems.

LG Electronics is showcasing new portable navigation devices at CES Show. The new LG navigation models are preloaded with 2D and 3D maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico and offer turn-by-turn text-to-speech voice guidance. The touch-screen displays feature day and night modes to make viewing a snap. The LG Navigation units also serve as Bluetooth hands-free speakerphone devices, including phone book synchronization and even audio stream reception for enjoyable music playback from compatible cellular telephones.

A digital camera inside a cell phone is not exceptional these days. It becomes a different case when a 5 Megapixel digital camera is integrated in a mobile phone. And although there are more handsets equipped with a 5 Megapixel digital camera, for example the Nokia N82, Samsung G800 and the Sony Ericsson K850i, there is a vast difference in the quality of the camera. The KU990 is the first 5 Megapixel cell phone of LG. It looks like LG is starting to take mobile photography seriously. The LG Viewty is up to date with its large touchscreen, 5 Megapixel digital camera and multimedia player. We were able to test the LG Viewty extensively.

LG Electronics has launched an exciting Video Media Talent award in conjunction with Shiny Media to find the UK’s up-and-coming new talent in both video production and presenting. The competition which challenges entrants to prove that they have what it takes to become the next big names in the media industry, will give the top entrants two training internships - one for a video presenter and the other for a video production assistant.

LG unveiled the LG Viewty, the first handset in LG’s new line of high-tech handsets at IFA 2007. The Viewty phone boasts a number of ‘world first’ features never seen before on a mobile phone.
