The LG GW620 is LG’s first Android Smartphone available on the market. A logical step, as many brands have chosen this relatively young operating system. In the meantime, the Android platform has become indispensible in the mobile communication world. Such an operating system is of course very important. It determines everything. If the phone runs smoothly and quickly, if Flash support is possible, and can applications be developed and installed? These are questions that not everyone thinks about when they make a new purchase, but they certainly help in making a good choice.

Remarkable affairs at the Mobile World Congress will always exist, but in the domain of manufacturers and hardware, not many things were presented at the Mobile World Congress that caused a stir. There is of course the case of Nokia that announced early on that they would not be present at the MWC 2010, at least not on the show floor. What Nokia did do, was rent a location in Barcelona at the same time of Mobile World Congress and wait for visitors to show up. It is hard for us to say if this was a good idea. In any case, we did not go, and seeing the publications written about Nokia, we don’t get the feeling that this was a bad decision.

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, has organized a series of spectacular events in Barcelona to coincide with the launch of its new social media-friendly LG Mini handset. This small but mighty communication hub is designed to keep people in touch with their online friends while on the go without having to lug around a heavy computer or complicated mobile phone. During the Mobile World Congress, which was held in Catalonia’s capital city from February 15th to 18th, LG has reached out beyond the borders of the fair itself to promote its newest, smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch touchscreen handset, LG Mini, which will be available in Europe starting in March, followed by other markets.

Measuring 10.6mm in depth and weighing just 99g, the LG GD880 Mini boasts an array of superb features including LG’s 3-Way Sync service, called LG Air Sync. This next-generation mobile technology enables users to continually sync the data on their phones with information stored on their PCs and their browser history over a wireless network, ensuring that contents such as photos, video clips, calendars and phone books can be updated and accessed at all times. As the first feature phone to support LG Air Sync, a form of the cloud computing so far available only on smartphones, LG expects the LG GD880 Mini to generate considerable buzz on the market.

LG’s digital photo frames offer you the possibility of showing your photos or play your music easily. The digital photo frame is gaining popularity, as almost every manufacturer has a solution in its assortment. The LG F8010P is a fairly extensive photo frame with which the consumer has quite a few more possibilities than the standard photo frame. The LG photo frame is not very remarkable in terms of its appearance: with a white frame it will not be an eye-catcher in the modern living room. Still, this changes as soon as the first images appear on the screen. That’s when the LG digital photo frame stands out, and will be an eye-catcher in the house.

In the gossip circles the tables seem to have been turned somewhat. The end of 2009 proved to produce a lot of attention for Google Android and its rare manufacturer-fans, but now we are seeing more sources surfacing with the necessary information about Windows Mobile 7. There is talk of a Windows Phone 7 Business Edition OS, especially made for OEM phones with their own GUI as well. One of the first Windows cell phones that are named is the LG Apollo, which is probably the same model that we named as the possible LG Windows Mobile 7 phone for the third quarter of 2010. The MWC 2010 in Barcelona will surely provide more information about this.

An overactive Twitterer has leaked out LG's plans for Windows Mobile 7 early. According to the tweets, LG is planning on introducing their first LG Windows Mobile 7 phones in September of this year. And it’s about time that Microsoft came out with something new. Windows Mobile OS’s marketing share of the cell phone market is disappearing like snow under the sun, and we don't think that this is really what Microsoft is aiming for. The LG Mobile 7 cell phones will possibly be named for the first time during the coming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The MWC 2010 show will be held from February 15th to 18th, in the Fira Montjuïc Venue.
