Nokia announced that the Nokia N95 8GB had the distinction of being the first ever mobile phone to receive Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certification. The DLNA is a body advocating the interoperability of wired and wireless consumer devices. For the consumer, this accolade translates into convenient and intuitive connectivity between your DLNA Certified home electronics devices, personal computers, and your Nokia N95 8GB. DLNA technology enables multi-vendor home ecosystems of consumer devices by building a common connectivity platform for a variety of multimedia experiences. Zannel has created a mobile Web site with sophisticated technology optimized for the Apple iPhone. “The success of the Apple iPhone demonstrates that the next wave of mobile communication has arrived, and the ecosystem is ready for true mobile web applications like ours,” said Braxton Woodham, CTO at Zannel. “We’re excited about moving beyond the simple list formats inherent to WAP and creating a mobile Web site that a device like the iPhone deserves.”

Nokia announced a collaboration with Telecom Italia to accelerate the adoption of new Internet services on mobile. Ovi, the gateway to Nokia's Internet services, will be enabled on Nokia handsets offered by TIM. The agreement will make it easy for people to find and enjoy best-in-class Internet services, from TIM, Nokia or from other Internet service providers. As part of the collaboration, Nokia will customize the new Nokia handsets to provide easy access to TIM services. Similarly, TIM customers can access all Nokia services through the customized Multimedia Menu embedded into their Nokia device. The collaboration also includes areas such as technology and billing co-operation.

Thumbplay, the largest and fastest growing mobile entertainment content destination in the US (Nielsen Mobile, Q3 2007), announced it will provide ringtones, wallpaper, games and video clips to Mobile MSN, the mobile portal of the MSN online network, which is visited by more than 120 million unique monthly visitors in the US (comScore Media Metrix, October 2007). Nokia applauded Verizon Wireless' announced plans to develop and deploy a fourth generation 4G mobile broadband network. The Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology Verizon Wireless chose is an open and global specification for next generation networks that will bring scale and efficiencies for manufacturers, choice in network equipment and device for operators, and ultimately better value and richer experiences for consumers.

The Nielsen Company released the findings of an in-depth study on the mobile media and cross media behavior of US "tweens" (ages 8-12). While text-messaging and ringtones remain the most pervasive non-voice functions on the phone, other content such as downloaded wallpapers, music, games and Internet access also rank highly among tweens. The report, "Kids on the Go: Mobile Usage by US Teens and Tweens," was conducted by Nielsen Mobile and BASES, two services of Nielsen. It also provides insights on teen and tween use of specific content brands, genre preferences, overall use of leisure time and demographic profiles. The full report will be released on December 14.
