ZYB, the company that brings mobile data to life, announced today that it has reached a milestone of 100,000 users since the launch of its free online phone backup service in June 2006. This week also saw ZYB as a recipient of Red Herring 100, an award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year. InfoSpace, Inc., a leading developer of mobile technologies, will announce that it is supplying Virgin Mobile with its complete suite of mobile platform services, including the addition of a customized, integrated mobile search solution. As a result, Virgin Mobile will be able to offer its subscribers the ability to search the web, WAP sites and Virgin Mobile's own portal and storefront providing access to ringtones, games and other premium content.

The market for mobile phone accessories will generate over $32 billion in revenues in 2007, more than the $28 billion expected from the Smartphone market. Around 77% of these revenues will come from the sales of “after-market” mobile phone accessories and the remaining from “in-box” accessories shipments. According to ABI Research industry analyst Shailendra Pandey, “The number of mobile phone accessory products is expanding with new products driven by technology as well as by customer fashion and personalization needs appearing in the market. Handset vendors and mobile operators are showing greater interest as accessories provide high margins and also opportunities to promote their brand and expand their product offerings.

JaJah, the innovative web-based calling company, announced the investment of T-Online Venture Fund. The fund is managed by T-Venture Holding GmbH, the corporate venture capital entity of Deutsche Telekom. The investment of the T-Online Venture Fund is part of a $20 million USD investment round, co-led by Intel Capital. “The agreement is unprecedented. JaJah is the first Voice 2.0 company to receive this level of industry validation and support. The long-term implications can’t be understated,” said Roman Scharf, JaJah co-founder.

Nokia’s “Project 95” will take Peter Schindler - a seasoned traveler - on a 20,000-plus kilometer, Nokia-solely-sponsored, road-trip across China. Peter will be equipped with various Nokia Nseries devices, most notably the Nokia N95. He will keep a record of his excursions by maintaining a mobile blog that shares his thoughts and images taken through his Nokia N95. “I am looking forward to this adventure, driving across China,” said Peter, who has traveled by himself over one million kilometers throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia. “I am eager to explore the modern lives of Chinese people; their thoughts on life and their expectactions for the future.”

On Mother’s Day, most adults may not be with their mothers, according to the new T-Mobile Mother’s Day Survey on how families stick together. “Today, many grown children do not live within driving distance of their moms,” said David Beigie, vice president of Marketing, T-Mobile USA. “Many move to other parts of the country. And dispersed families don’t come together for Mother’s Day like they do for other holidays such as Thanksgiving.” The survey found that about half of adults (49 percent) said they would not be spending Mother’s Day with their mother and another 18 percent were uncertain. 33 percent said they will be spending Mother’s Day with their mother.

The latest generation of wireless Internet devices meets the newest generation of high school students as Nokia kicks off its participation in the city of San Francisco's WiFiAnywhere initiative, a collaboration between public, private- sector and non-profit organizations that will give communities the opportunity to experiment with leading-edge mobile technologies. Nokia will provide wireless Internet tablets and Nokia Nseries multimedia computers to over 40 deserving San Francisco high school students, giving them a new creative video medium to explore, and a hands-on introduction to the wireless Internet.
