Motorola, Inc. announced its next-generation universal base station (UBS) and Picocell M810 at CTIA Wireless 2007. Both products will be deployed in mobile communications service provider networks with various frequencies and configurations (CDMA 1x and EVDO-Rev A) beginning this year. The Motorola UBS is built on a highly integrated product architecture that offers enhanced reliability and integrated functionality. It is a cost-effective solution for both emerging and mature markets with a broad range of capacity-growth capabilities and configurations.

Wireless 2007, the world’s largest event for the Wireless industry, announced that Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO of Research In Motion (RIM) will deliver a keynote address on opening day, Tuesday, March 27. CTIA Wireless takes place March 27-29 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Mike Lazaridis is replacing Motorola CEO Ed Zander as a keynoter. “Mike Lazaridis is a welcome addition to a stellar keynote line-up this year,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president of operations and show director for CTIA Wireless.

The five short ‘made for mobile’ films, premiering exclusively at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona this week, are now available for mobile users to download around the world today. Information on the project and instructions for accessing the films can be found on the special website. To download the short films, text the word ‘FILM’ to +44 7624807811. A text message reply to your phone will include a link to the Sundance Film Festival Global Short Film Project mobile web page with thumbnails, descriptions of each of the five films and information about each filmmaker.

At the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia and Siemens are joining forces under the banner of the future Nokia Siemens Networks to present numerous innovative live demonstrations that show how operators and other service providers can bring fixed, mobile or converged networks to life for both consumers and businesses. Nokia Siemens Networks is a planned new company into which Nokia and Siemens intend to merge the Networks Business Group of Nokia and the carrier related operations of Siemens. The planned merger to create Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to close in the first quarter 2007.

Nokia will welcome the New Year in unique style - by connecting millions of music lovers from around the world as they count down the final minutes of 2006. Sony Ericsson today announces the launch of a revolutionary new concept, Night Tennis. Combining internationally renowned DJs, Groove Armada and Darren Emerson with a fashion extravaganza, thumping tunes and a game of tennis, it promises to rock Madrid. Night Tennis will run over two evenings, 9th and 10th November, as part of Sony Ericsson sponsored entertainment, competitions and events during the week of the Sony Ericsson Championships. Eight players will take to the court wearing specially designed neon whites to serve up a new type of tennis. Played in pitch black, with UV as the only source of light, it promises to revolutionise the way tennis is played and watched.
