Motorola, Inc. announced its next-generation universal base station (UBS) and Picocell M810 at CTIA Wireless 2007. Both products will be deployed in mobile communications service provider networks with various frequencies and configurations (CDMA 1x and EVDO-Rev A) beginning this year. The Motorola UBS is built on a highly integrated product architecture that offers enhanced reliability and integrated functionality. It is a cost-effective solution for both emerging and mature markets with a broad range of capacity-growth capabilities and configurations.

Wireless 2007, the world’s largest event for the Wireless industry, announced that Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO of Research In Motion (RIM) will deliver a keynote address on opening day, Tuesday, March 27. CTIA Wireless takes place March 27-29 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Mike Lazaridis is replacing Motorola CEO Ed Zander as a keynoter. “Mike Lazaridis is a welcome addition to a stellar keynote line-up this year,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president of operations and show director for CTIA Wireless.

Nokia Siemens Networks is a planned new company into which Nokia and Siemens intend to merge the Networks Business Group of Nokia and the carrier related operations of Siemens. The planned merger to create Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to close in the first quarter 2007.
