Research In Motion announced that its BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry device software have been awarded Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 augmented (EAL 2+) validations. The certifications were awarded at the 8th International Common Criteria Conference in Rome and acknowledge the robust security features of the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution. "RIM is a pioneer and longstanding advocate of wireless security and we are extremely pleased to report that our BlackBerry software has become the first mobile platform to receive the Common Criteria certification" said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at RIM.

SanDisk Corporation announced that its line of microSDHC flash memory cards has received the 2007 Best of Show award in the Application category from the Flash Memory Summit. Nokia announced the Nokia N95 multimedia computer has been voted 'the European Media Phone of the Year 2007-2008' by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), Europe's leading association for consumer electronics. Commenting on the award, EISA praised the Nokia N95 as containing "practically every feature one could imagine in a mobile device." Additionally, the award citation of the EISA jury goes on to say: "It's no mere mobile phone and no mere status symbol. Pick up a Nokia N95 and you hold in your hands a state-of-the-art communication tool - the ideal way to remain permanently in touch and on track with the world that surrounds you."

The GSM Association launched the Asia Mobile Awards 2007, a new awards programme for companies across the mobile value chain that serve users in the Asia region with compelling mobile content, products and services. Categories include Mobile Entertainment, Mobile Advertising, Social Networking, and also Mobile Broadband Device. The Asia Mobile Awards are now open for entry and will close on Friday 28th September 2007. Presentation of the Asia Mobile Awards will form the climax of a special gala dinner at the Macau Tower Entertainment & Convention Centre, on Tuesday 13th November 2007, as part of the GSMA’s Mobile Asia Congress (12-15 November 2007).

Nokia revealed the Nokia N95 multimedia computer has been voted the 'Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2007' by TIPA (Technical Image Press Association), the largest photo and imaging press association in Europe. "A small mobile wonder and a camera as well," the Nokia N95 multimedia computer was commended for its outstanding imaging functionality, comparing its features directly with those of stand-alone cameras.

Pantech Group, the leading Korean handset manufacturer, today announced that it has been once again honored at the prestigious iF(International Forum) Design Award for excellence and innovation in the design of cellular phones and packaging, marking the third consecutive year since 2004. Four of the company’s products were recognized by the iF Design Award: ‘SP5’ and ‘HC1’ in Consumer Electronics / Telecommunicatons category, ‘Flexus 03’ in Advanced Studies, and ‘One touch open cap’ in packaging design. At 2006 iF Design Award, Pantech received the awards in recognition of three models; one commercial handset and two advanced concept models.

Sony Ericsson has been voted as the winner of the Member of the Year category of the Java Community Process (JCP) Program’s Annual Awards. The announcement was made by the JCP Program Management Office at an awards ceremony held last night during the JavaOne Conference. The JCP Program held its 4th annual JCP Program Community Event where awards in five different categories were revealed. The nominations had been made by the Executive Committees (ECs), and the winner in each category determined by Executive Committee vote.
