The website of Engadget received an EPpy Award for the Best Consumer Technology Blog at the 14th Annual EPpy Awards Luncheon. The EPpy award, sponsored by Editor & Publisher and MediaWeek, recognizes the best media-affiliated Web sites. Engadget, is the most visited consumer technology blog in the USA, and is part of AOL’s MediaGlow publishing group. The Engadget network, which also includes the websites; EngadgetMobile and EngadgetHD, attracts more than 5.5 million monthly unique visitors and 23 million page views worldwide each month, according to March 2009 comScore Media Metrix data.

Modu, manufacturer of the world’s lightest modular mobile phone, has been selected this week as a Global Finalist in the GSM Association’s (GSMA) prestigious 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition. Competing in the Most Innovative True Mobile Start-up category, modu was selected as one of two finalists from a pool of 15 leading emerging mobile companies from around the world. The decision was announced at the Mobile Innovation Marketplace - Americas event held in Atlanta.

Samsung Mobile was awarded the prestigious title of Manufacturer of the Year at the 2008 Mobile News Awards held at the Hilton Park Lane in Central London on 13th March 2008. At the awards ceremony, TV presenter and comedian Simon Amstell presented Mark Mitchinson from Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland, with the award. Samsung Mobile was commended for its success in building its mobile handset range, its focus and dedication to customer service, and delivering a significant increase in sales through 2007.

Nokia announced that the Nokia N82 multimedia computer has been awarded the 'Best Mobile Imaging Device in Europe 2008' by TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) - Europe's largest photo and imaging press association. "The Nokia N82 is a compact multimedia computer that integrates GPS, web, video and music functions around a 5 Megapixel camera with a high-speed, f/2.8 autofocus lens," the TIPA jurors said. " This Carl Zeiss Tessar focuses from 10cm to infinity and produces sharp prints up to and beyond A4 size. Several scene modes are also available to optimize the Nokia N82 for great images, whether shooting portraits or night shots," TIPA continued.

LG Electronics has launched an exciting Video Media Talent award in conjunction with Shiny Media to find the UK’s up-and-coming new talent in both video production and presenting. The competition which challenges entrants to prove that they have what it takes to become the next big names in the media industry, will give the top entrants two training internships - one for a video presenter and the other for a video production assistant.

The GSM Association, the global trade association for mobile operators, has announced a shortlist of 25 nominees for its inaugural Asia Mobile Awards 2007, plus eight finalists in the Asia Mobile Innovation Awards that will be contested and presented at the forthcoming Mobile Asia Congress in Macau (November 12-15 2007). Judged by independent analysts, journalists and industry experts, the winners of the Asia Mobile Awards will be presented on the evening of 13th November 2007 during the GSMA’s Mobile Asia Congress Gala Party at the Venetian Hotel.

For the second time, Sony Ericsson ranked highest in US overall customer satisfaction performance among wireless mobile phone brands in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Customer Satisfaction Study. Last week, Sony Ericsson also ranked highest among wireless mobile phones brands in the J.D. Power and Associates Canadian Wireless Customer Satisfaction Study. “Sony Ericsson continues to show a strong commitment to the North American market with an expanding portfolio of compelling devices for every consumer,” said Najmi Jarwala, president of Sony Ericsson North America.

Three flash-based products from SanDisk Corporation were named honorees in the Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association. The products, consisting of a solid-state drive, a high-capacity mobile phone card and a new computer acceleration module, will be displayed at January’s International CES in Las Vegas, where SanDisk is exhibiting in South Hall 3, Booth 30768. Honorees were announced at CES Unveiled, the official press preview for the show. Products entered in the competition were judged by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products.
