A T&T introduces fifth generation rugged phone - AT&T customers can look forward to a tough phone that stands up to the elements will have one more choice with the Samsung Rugby 3 (model: Samsung SGH-A997) for just $99.99 with a two-year agreement. This rugged phone is the 5th generation in the popular Rugby series from Samsung and is compatible with AT&T’s Enhanced Push to Talk service, which enables business users to communicate faster, to larger talk groups, and across more types of handsets than ever before. Business customers with an AT&T account will be able to pre-order the Samsung Rugby 3 flip phone through their AT&T account lead or through their Premier online account.

 

Samsung Rugby 3 features

The Samsung Rugby 3 rugged phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 3 megapixel digital camera and includes a dedicated PTT button on the handset for easy access. The phone is built to military specifications (810G specifications) and is waterproof, dust proof and shock resistant. It also offers one-touch access to GPS Navigation through AT&T Navigator. AT&T delivers turn-by-turn GPS directions and proactive traffic alerts. Other advanced aGPS features include Allsport, a GPS trainer and workout tracker, and Loopt, a location-based social network app.

Samsung Rugby 3 price & availability

The Samsung SGH-A997 Rugby III caries a retail price of $99.99 USD. With a two-year PTT contract, organizations can pick up the handset for free. Organizations interested in AT&T Enhanced PTT can choose from two different rate plans; $5 per month when added to existing AT&T voice and data plans or $30 per month for a PTT-only rate plan (no voice or non-PTT data included). Both AT&T plans include unlimited PTT, and data used by the Enhanced PTT application will not count against the customer's monthly data totals or incur pay-per-use charges.
