S amsung is continuously busy conquering market shares. Whoever visited or followed Samsung’s recent global press conferences, for example the conference during the recent Consumer Electronics Show 2010 in Las Vegas, will quickly conclude that different points are slowly but surely flowing into one another, or are at least connected to each other. Imaging, mobile communication, 3D, notebooks, etc. Therefore, Samsung makes me think more and more of Sony, but then the Sony of several years ago. At breakneck speed, product after product is being spit out of the Samsung factory, it’s stunning. One of those hundreds of products is the new Samsung Shark mobile phone.

Samsung S5350 Shark
During the Mobile World Congress, Samsung presented its new portfolio of phones, at least for the coming months. As this year a whole pile of smartphones will undoubtedly also follow. The series of Samsung Shark phones was set up at the Samsung booth where we took a minute to look at the Samsung S5350. The new Samsung Shark S5350 is a smartphone from the middle segment with the appearance and the performance of a high-end phone.

Samsung S5350 Shark review
The design of the Samsung S5350 smartphone is fine, with nicely rounded corners. It doesn't really have a ‘Shark' feeling to it, but with a far-reaching imagination you could indeed conclude that the design is streamlined. The finish is fine and the metal backing of the Samsung Shark smartphone gives it a solid feel. The compact format of this Samsung smartphone has the consequence that the format of the display ‘only' measures 2.2-inches. We may have been getting a little spoiled, due to the previous phone that we held in our hands, the Samsung Wave with its Super AMOLED display.

Samsung Shark features

In terms of camera work in the Samsung Shark S5350, we are looking at a modest 3.2 Megapixel camera. Modest indeed, but well-equipped with specifications such as face detection and the now famous or rather sensational Beauty Shot. This latest function edits parts of the face that would be candidates for plastic surgery, with the help of an ingenious algorhythm. In practice, it's not that dramatic, it's especially the wrinkles or small blemishes that are ‘polished' away. In any case, it's cheap and most painless type of beauty improvement.

The Samsung S5350's user interface is not really surprising, at least not for the experienced Samsung cell phone owner. The speed is certainly sufficient, and its features such as the built-in phone book have been improved so that the whole feels more intuitive than before. The Samsung Shark S5350's buttons are large enough to able to control it well. The Samsung Shark S5350 will be made available during the first quarter. As soon as we receive a review sample, a full Samsung S5350 review will be published along with a sample photo gallery.
