T he NTT Docomo booth at the Mobile World Congress is always a good place to find a remarkable and unique mobile product. Next to the wooden smartphone, the NTT Docomo Touch Wood, we also ran into the NTT Docomo F-04B handset. On the whole it looks futuristic, especially when it appears that by pushing on the bottom of the NTT F-04B, it can be split into two pieces. The fun part is that the separate pieces can still communicate with each other through Bluetooth technology. Additionally, very ingenious, it is even possible to choose which or both pieces will be used for communication. Both pieces have a microphone and speaker. But how does the battery work?

Indeed, both pieces of the NTT F-04B have a Li-Ion battery, which of course makes the phone a bit heavier, but at the same time this delivers a lot of extra energy.

If you want to share the NTT Docomo F-04B mobile phone is up for discussion, but I can imagine that it is also twice as easy to lose one or both of the pieces. For some, it is already a big effort to find a cell phone in the pocket or handbag, never mind two pieces...

All in all, it appears to very solid, only we were less impressed with the quality of the keypad. The NTT Docomo F-04B is equipped with a digital camera and delivers 12 Megapixels resolution. It is therefore one of the few cell phones with such a uselessly high resolution sensor built in.

The trend seems to be 5 megapixels, which is according to us more than enough. This 12 Megapixel phone from NTT Docomo can of course also be used as a whole, normal slider phone.

One that does share the phone and uses the separate pieces for diverse applications will also have to recharge more often. A dock station was developed especially for the NTT Docomo F-04B, with which the different pieces of the Smartphone can be independently charged.

Smartphone for the Japanese market

This futuristic smartphone is unfortunately only destined for the Japanese market, the other parts of the world will have to stick to the simple smartphone...
