T oshiba launched the TG01 Smartphone during the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. Then, a smartphone with the fastest processor available, but unfortunately the Toshiba TG01 Smartphone lacked true high-end technical specifications to beat last year’s competition. The mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona gave Toshiba a second chance. The Toshiba TG02 Smartphone did not really come as surprise. We had a look at the new Toshiba TG02 Windows Smartphone. The body of the new Toshiba smartphone seems to be a bit smaller, but the large format screen has stayed.

 

 

Toshiba TG02 Smartphone

The Toshiba TG02's opening screen looks really cool. It is divided into three vertical areas that are individually rotatable so that a new row of pictograms with functions appear. It's Toshiba's own overlay on top of Windows Mobile 6.5.3. It's too bad that the announcement of the Toshiba TG02 with Windows Mobile 6.5.3 happened at the same time as Microsoft's announcement about the coming new series of cell phones equipped with Windows Mobile 7 OS. On the other hand, it is expected that the first Windows 7 smartphones will only become available in the first quarter of 2010.

 

 

Toshiba Windows Smartphone

The way in which the menu and the Apps can be adjusted to personal taste is very cool. Via the main screen you can access the application menu where you can adjust the color settings, for example. You can also change the order of the activation of the different Apps according to personal taste. On top of the main screen a transparent screen is found. This is actually a sort of second screen wherein different functions and settings can be released, or it serves as base for a whole new screen for an email account, for example.

 

 

Toshiba TG02 features

The 1Ghz ensures for a quick processing of the different tasks and functions. The screen reacts quickly and our first impression is that Toshiba has in any case learned from its experience with the Toshiba TG01 smartphone and has not made the same mistakes. In terms of hardware and OS it all seems to fit. The result is a fine Windows 7 smartphone with more extensive function quality!
