C hina is preparing for a new Smartphone, the Philips D908 Smartphone. Although few to no Philips cell phones appear outside of the Asian market, China seems to be the appointed country to build up a market share. Philips Mobile closed down its cell phone division in 2007, and it is now run by the China Electronics Corporation. The new Philips Smartphone uses Windows Mobile 6.5 and is a fairly powerful smartphone, in terms of technical specifications. The Philips Windows Smartphone has a 3.2-inch color TFT display with a 260,000 colors in a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It also has a digital camera with a 5 Megapixel CMOS image sensor.

New Philips Smartphone

According to recent information, the Philips D908 Smartphone is directed at the business market and thus this target group will have access to a powerful Windows-based smartphone. The Philips Smartphone supports Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi, and is equipped with an internal memory of 1GB, which can be extended with a microSD flash memory card with a maximum storage capacity of 32 GB. All in all, it is an interesting and very surprising Windows smartphone under the Philips label. We will most likely run into the phone at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona. Not at the Philips stand, but probably in the Chinese pavilion.
