I t would be just your luck. You finally have that cell phone that you have long been waiting for in your hands, and you notice that its reliability leaves much to be desired. This sounds ominous, but it is quite common that expensive digital toys like mobile phones come with defects. Lately, this happened to several clients that bought the Sony Ericsson Satio phone from the British Carphone Warehouse and Phones4u stores. The amount of Sony Ericsson Satios that were returned due to complaints of defects was so high that both chains decided to pull the Satio from the sales floor (at least for the next little while).

Sony Ericsson Satio complaints

This is painful for Sony Ericsson, who recently already had bad luck with the K850i, W910i and C902 models, and even had to make a compensation agreement with the affected providers. Although until now it has only affected two sales locations, it seems as if the Sony Ericsson Satio had not passed the quality test for a number of configurations, but managed to end up in the hands of the consumers as 100% approved. That is certainly a dent in their trustworthiness, and that is a setback for an enterprise that it is already experiencing stormy weather.

Sony EricssonĀ Satio complaints can be avoided with a firmware update?

At this moment we have not received any reports from outside of the region that the chain stores mentioned operate in, and therefore we assume that it is still a relatively isolated incident at the moment. Still, it is remarkable that very often shortly after appearing on the market, phones need to updated with new firmware. So we ask ourselves more and more how quality controls of cell phones should be judged. Or does it strongly depend on the provider?
