T he Touch Diamond was one of the most outstanding phones from the HTC assortment. However, developments and innovative communication solutions occur at a dazzling speed. This is why a successful phone like the HTC Diamond is not able to live on its popularity forever, and is in fact more likely to pave the path for prolongation of the success for its successor, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 in this case. The HTC Diamond 2 still has a chic appearance and has been sharpened as far as specifications go in order to maintain a good position within the competitive market.

HTC Diamond 2 review - TouchFLO 3D technology

The HTC Touch Diamond 2 handset is equipped with the latest operation, thanks to version 2.0 of the TouchFLO 3D technology. Several items have been added, and several have been improved. The TouchFLO 3d is in fact an additional layer around the operating system Windows Mobile 6.1. And that brings us to the weak point of the Touch Diamond 2; mobile 6.1. This system seems to trail somewhat behind when it comes to hardware. Windows Mobile 6.5 is eagerly awaited, an upgrade that is even planned for this mobile phone. The HTC Touch FLO 3D is actually quite well-able to push Windows into the background. You really have to make an effort to get to the 'traditional' Windows menu. Upon activating the phone, you're welcomed by an original start screen displaying a retro clock, a rather nice detail. The bar on the bottom displays several directly accessible items. Not only does it show Contacts, Messages and Mail, but also the Agenda and more. The 'settings' item, placed last on the bar, lets you adjust the HTC Touch Diamond 2 to your own preference. The improved menu is easy to become acquainted with, and will appeal in practice.

HTC Diamond 2 test - Mobile photography

Mobile photography is still in its infancy in this time and age. It's not that the effective resolution doesn't make huge leaps forwards, those who have a tiny bit of experience and digital photography skills know that this does not equal quality. It would get you in a split being a manufacturer. The marketing wants faster and flashier specifications, and one of the features that is reasonably easy to apply is a higher amount of pixels. The R&D department in that case, is confronted with a rather impossible quest, to keep pixel quality as high as possible and at the same time lift mobile photography to a higher level. After all, there is clearly potential in that field.

HTC Touch Diamond 2 review

The HTC Touch Diamond 2 is the successor to the first Diamond version of HTC. And it suffices to say the name could not have been clearer for a new product! All eyes are focused on the feature upgrade, for both the software and the hardware. When it comes to housing and design, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is a real eye-catcher. Also kind of sophisticated, which ensures it stands out from the crowd. Nowadays, it certainly isn't easy for a mobile phone manufacturer to survive. Sales numbers are dropping, the risk of certain segments becoming full is high, and the market demands innovation at a very high speed. The HTC Touch Diamond 2 happily follows in the footsteps and the success of its predecessor. However, whether this will actually guarantee its success remains the question for now. Our experience with the new HTC smartphone can be read in the following HTC Diamond 2 review
