N owadays, it seems to have become a trend to launch a new model mobile phone with both a type number and a real name. Just like many other brands, Samsung too gives its new mobile phones a genuine name. Recently, we have seen this happening with the Samsung INNOV8, the Samsung OMNIA, and now once again with the Samsung Pixon. In addition to a more positive feeling, this name-giving also offers information about the cell phone, unlike a type number. Pixon naturally refers to the integrated 8 Megapixel digital camera.

Samsung Pixon review - Widgets shortcuts

The Samsung Pixon runs on Samsung's operating system. The mobile phone is very user-friendly and everything is carried out smoothly. The main screen contains several shortcuts. Pressing a button once calls up the numeric keypad to select a number and there are shortcuts to the contact list, message menu and, of course, the main menu. In addition to the shortcuts, the Pixon's main screen also displays Widgets. Widgets are similar to shortcuts, but they are hidden in a vertical bar that is folded in. You can drag the Widgets to the main screen, allowing you to personalize your screen.

Samsung Pixon test - 8 Megapixel digital camera

The main feature of the Samsung Pixon M8800 is of course the integrated 8.0 Megapixel digital camera. The back appears to be a genuine digital camera, also because of the extending lens. The camera application should be activated by the menu or the shortcut on the right side of the Pixon. The lens cover will automatically be removed upon activating. It quickly allows you to take a picture. Moreover, the automatic lens cover is a nice additional option. The shutter lag is only minimal when framing and actually capturing a picture.

Samsung Pixon review

The Samsung Pixon looks a bit like the Omnia, although the Pixon is in fact an entirely different phone with Samsung's operating system, and a higher resolution digital camera. The Samsung Pixon M8800 is Samsung's latest cameraphone. The combination of an 8 Megapixel digital camera, a large touchscreen monitor, HSDPA and a neat appearance, certainly creates great expectations. Whether the Samsung Pixon is able to actually live up to these expectations, can be read in the following Samsung Pixon review.
