A mobile World Congress without Nokia is simply unimaginable. Naturally, Nokia was present as always, to announce its new line-up mobile phones. Among the new series of handsets is the Nokia N97 multimedia phone which was already announced previously. In addition, Nokia now seems to target the corporate user a little more clearly, and the brand will undoubtedly try to conquer a larger market share in this segment. Among the new cell phones are the Nokia N86, Nokia E55, Nokia E75, Nokia 6720 Classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator and the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.

New Nokia phones
It's striking having to conclude time and again that Nokia's viewpoint on mobile photography is rather conservative. Techniques that are finally used in their mobile phones have often already proven their worth in practice, and thus Nokia rarely surprises us with a genuine innovation. Even a high resolution camera phone wasn't included until recently. However, that era is past tense now, with the introduction of the Nokia N86 8MP, which sees to it that Nokia joins brands such as Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson; the latter of which, by the way, presented a 12 Megapixel phone concept at the GSMA.

The Nokia N86 8MP is Nokia's first high resolution photography phone. A compact new handset designed with emphasis on the image quality for digital video and photography. Thanks to the fast data communication possibility of the Nokia N86 8MP it allows for fast sharing of pictures and videos with family and friends. The 8 Megapixel digital pictures are stored on the 8GB internal flash memory or on the optional flash memory card with a maximum capacity of 16GB. The clear OLED monitor, with a special coating to prevent scratches and damaging, provides a beautiful reproduction.

With the Nokia N86 8MP, as well as the Nokia E75 and the Nokia E55 business handsets, Nokia targets both the corporate and all-round communication segments. Both offer extensive possibilities when it comes to mobile communication. The Nokia E75 mobile phone features a 3.2 Megapixel digital camera with LED flash, GPS receiver, WiFi and HSDPA for fast mobile Internet, among other things. Striking are the similarities when it comes to the form factor, with the Nokia 5730 eXpress Music.

Due to Nokia's restricted approach towards development, we did not find any new mobile phones such as those of Samsung (Beat DJ and Omnia HD) or LG (Arena) at the GSMA 2009 Mobile World Congress. It are without question these companies that know how to attract the attention by broad innovation and seem to know exactly what appeals to a large group of trend-followers or early adapters.
