A new introduction of a mobile phone is always an event of great importance. Samsung is aware of this fact and usually a launch party is arranged in order to introduce a new product. Samsung Netherlands launched the Omnia in "Huis ter Duin" in Noordwijk, the "home" of the Dutch football team, as the football enthusiasts among us will probably know. And famous were the people gathered for the introduction of the Samsung Omnia i900. The handset was originally sold as a special Millionaire Pack, including a copy of the Millionaire magazine, a pouch and a Bluetooth headset.

Samsung Omnia review : Smartphone interface

Samsung has equipped the Omnia with a separate interface, as we see more and more often on new Windows Mobile phones. This is noticeable for the folding-in list with so-called Widgets, found on the main screen. Widgets are shortcuts to, for example, the MP3 player. Samsung smartphone review : Omnia i900

There are sufficient choices to browse the Internet on the Samsung i900. You can connect with WiFi, the phone also supports HSDPA and it offers a choice between Opera and Internet Explorer as web browser. Both web browsers are fine. Full screen reproduction is available and tapping on the screen twice lets you zoom in. Browsing through Internet pages and searching the menu consisting of long lists is not all that smooth. However, everything I am used to doing on a mobile phone as far as Internet is concerned, is available on the Samsung Omnia, such as read the news, keep up with emails and search for information.

Samsung Omnia review

The Samsung Omnia is a neat mobile phone offering much functionality. Samsung has equipped the Omnia i900 with a 5.0 megapixel digital camera, GPS-receiver, Windows Mobile software, HSDPA and a large touchscreen. At this time, the Omnia is the flagship of Samsung, however, whether the phone is actually able to compete with other mobile phones of the smartphone line in daily life, is yet to be seen and can be read in the full Samsung Omnia review.
