T hink of Apple and you think of computers, notebooks, MP3 players, iPhones and iPods. Apple is a prominent player in the field of digital music, thanks to its portable iPod music and video players. The iPod nano is the latest portable music player of Apple belonging to the already fourth generation. With a mere 6mm of depth, the fourth generation Apple iPod nano is extremely flat with a streamlined, oblong design. Half of the front is covered by the 2 inch liquid crystal monitor. The other half carries the click-wheel, so very familiar for the iPod.

Playing music on the iPod nano

The music quality of the new iPod nano is similar to that of its predecessors. And it is just what you'd expect from an Apple iPod. The included earplugs are simply fine; the music is excellent, bright and gives a full sound, whatever genre you're listening to. Just like all previous models, the operation of the Apple iPod nano is carried out by the navigation ring. And also on this iPod, navigation is superb.

Playing podcasts on the Apple iPod nano

The Apple iPod nano is able to play podcasts (digital sound files). These podcasts are available on many websites and for sale at the iTunes store. Unfortunately, I was unable to fully test this function, however, from the experiences of my colleagues I know that it is both flawless and easy to work with, in particular through the iTunes store. You simply download a podcast which can be transferred to your iPod nano and listen to it whenever and wherever you want.

Apple iPod nano review

The new Apple iPod nano features an oblong and mainly flat design. The media player has been equipped with a 2 inch crystal monitor that also allows for watching videos. The iPod nano offers sufficient memory capacity with 8GB, or in the case of the other model, even 16GB. An integrated sensor detects rotating of the monitor and allows you to use the new cover-flow function. All of this on an iPod nano with a depth of a mere 6mm.
