ccording to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, touch screen phone shipments will reach 90 million units worldwide in 2009, accounting for 7 percent of total volumes. Tom Kang, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics said, “We forecast 90 million touch screen phones to be sold worldwide in 2009, accounting for 7 percent of total volumes. Neil Mawston, Director at Strategy Analytics, added, "Price is not the only factor for success. Screen size is also an important metric. Finger-operated touch screens typically work best on large displays above 3 inches in size, because this makes them more accurate and more user-friendly. For this reason, finger-based touch screens will be mostly restricted to smart phones and feature phones over the next few years and mass-market consumers should not expect to see them on entry-level devices any time soon."
