R ecently Samsung Netherlands introduced their latest mobile navigator. It is already quite interesting to walk around with this kind of mobile navigation system in your pocket, though it becomes even more interesting when it's combined with mobile photography. Although the new Samsung G810 mobile phone is not considered to be the successor to the Samsung G800, we do find its 5 Megapixel image sensor combined with a 3x optical zoom. This combination is similar to the features of last year’s standard compact camera as far as specifications on paper are concerned. How well mobile photography with the Samsung SGH-G810 does in practice, we will show through the following sample photos.

Samsung G810 review

Samsung G810 camera phone
A lot has been said and written about a mobile phone being a direct threat to the photo market. In my opinion this may become partly true, nevertheless; mobile photography will mainly contribute to the current market situation and add a surplus value. Those who aim solely at photography, will go through the trouble of purchasing a proper device; compact or DSLR, whilst those who enjoy taking snapshots every now and again and sharing them with others, will probably go for a cameraphone such as the Samsung G810.

Samsung G810 features

The 3x optical zoom lens of the Samsung G810 is a handy feature compared to the cameraphones equipped with the digital version. The optical zoom keeps the image quality high and uses the full effective image resolution. The zoom lens enables precise zooming in 8 stops which is standard accompanied by a lot of noise. I haven't been able to find the option to shut down the noise, although it is possible to turn off the shutter sound. The speed of zooming in requires improvement. You have to count on approximately three seconds to zoom from wide angle to telephoto and vice versa. Continue to read the full Samsung G810 review.
