S amsung surprised the public by showcasing a number of cell phones without any form of introduction at the telecom show "Televisie 2008" held in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. The new cell phone devices are entry-level models, except for the Samsung U800, made for the prepaid market and the newbie in the field of mobile phone users. The Samsung U800 is an Ultra Edition candybar handset aiming at the business user. Other new models showcased in the Samsung booth were the Samsung L870, M620, B510 and the Samsung B300.

Samsung U800 business cell phone

The Samsung U800 aims at the business user and the newbie in the world of mobile phones. The device offers every basic function such as SMS, MMS and a Quad band GSM connection. In addition the Samsung U800 features a UMTS connection possibility and a 3.2 Megapixel digital camera. The Samsung U800 has a body entirely made of metal that measures less than 10mm. Besides these functions the owner of a Samsung U800 will have an FM tuner and an MP3 player at his disposal.

 

Samsung L870 camera phone

The Samsung L870 is a Quad-band slider phone with GPRS and UMTS support. The device offers a wide range of functions. The Samsung L870 uses the renowned Symbian S60 operating system. Moreover it features a 3 Megapixel digital camera, a multimedia player, an FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and a large TFT colour monitor. Sadly Samsung did not equip this model with a touchscreen monitor. The device's dimensions are small (4x2x0.5 inches) and the design appears to be of high quality.

 

 

 

Samsung M620 slider phone

The Samsung M620 features a trendy design. This slider phone looks of high quality thanks to its metal appearance. The Samsung M620 offers a VGA camera that allows for shooting nice pictures, however; we should adjust our high expectations somewhat as far as quality is concerned, considering the limited amount of pixels. In addition the Samsung M620 is a tri-band mobile phone that offers Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio, music player and a 262,000 colour monitor. We expect the Samsung M620 mobile phone to be put on the Prepaid market.

 

 

Samsung B510 prepaid mobile phone

So far we may consider the Samsung B510 as the smaller brother of the Samsung M620. The Samsung B51 is also a slider model and also aiming at the prepaid market. The Samsung B510 unlike the M620 will not feature a digital camera. The device uses a tri-band GSM connection as well as a GPRS connection. This enables sending SMS and MMS messages. Besides that the Samsung B510 offers a Bluetooth 1.2 connection and will probably get equipped with a 65,000 colour CSTN monitor. The handset's dimensions are: 3,7x1,8x 0,7 inches.

 

 

Samsung B300 budget mobile phone

The Samsung B300 is the most standard mobile phone within the new Samsung line-up. The device offers a dual-band GSM connection and a GPRS connection enabling to send only short messages like SMS or MMS and make phone calls. We will find the Samsung B300 in the prepaid segment together with the other Samsung siblings. The internal monitor of the Samsung B300 will probably become a 65,000 colour CSTN monitor. The external monitor will most likely be carried out in black and white. The cell phone's dimensions are: 3.4x1.7x 0.7 inches.

 

Samsung i900 cell phone

The Samsung i900 is the top model in this line-up of new Samsung mobile phones. Even thought the Samsung i900 was spotted before on the Internet, it did not attract that much attention if any at all. The Samsung i900 has been equipped with a large touchscreen monitor with 262,000 colours and a resolution of 240x320. The device offers Quad-band, GPRS and UMTS connections.  In addition to the UMTS connection for Internet access, the Samsung i900 also features WLAN connection possibilities. These connectivity possibilities together with the VGA camera on the front, enable the user to make video-calls. The 5 Megapixel digital camera, will almost certainly feature face detection and electronic image stabilization and enables capturing precious moments. The Samsung i900's operating system is Windows Mobile 6.1 which allows adding of other favourite programs to this cell phone.
