Samsung G800 Press Event in London

D uring a mixed dealer and press event in London, Samsung officially announced the Samsung G800 camera phone. The high resolution 5 Megapixel Samsung G800 is an enhanced version of the G600. Samsung introduce the new G800 camera phone as a striking digital camera that can also be used as a mobile phone. Samsung has high expectations from the G800 handset. Samsung had hired part of the British Museum for the event that took place in London on Monday night 29th of October.

Paul Wilkens, Sales & Marketing Director Telecommunications Benelux, explained as follows: "Our R&D department developed the camera first and after that the mobile phone to fit around it, in stead of taking a mobile phone as base and integrate the camera afterwards."

A Q&A session took place after the presentation. On behalf of Samsung the following people formed a panel: Dr. YC Chi, Senior Vice President Marketing Group Mobile Communications Division, YK Kim, Vice President Overseas Sales and Marketing Team Europe/CIS Mobile Communications Division, Philippe Barthelet, Head of Telecom Division France, Hadrian Baumann, Senior Director European Marketing, Jon French, Head of Sales UK, Gilad Bachrach, Senior Portfolio Manager European Telecom Office and Paul Wilkens, Sales & Marketing Director Telecommunications Benelux.

Samsung Phone Models

One of the questions asked concerned the type of names Samsung use which causes confusion at times and it makes products not clearly recognizable. Paul Wilkens explained that this will change in 2008 and that Samsung are striving for uniformity. Currently Samsung mobile are going through a vast process of growth and as one of the panel members remarked: the confusion is due to this growth.
