Grundig MP3 community
"Grundig has a great deal of content for young people", says Christian Struck, director of Marketing Communications at Grundig - and he's not even talking primarily about the new MP3 and MPEG4 player. "With our MP3 Community, we reach young music fans and young artists who are interested in achieving notoriety beyond their home regions. And as our MP3 Community user numbers show, it's very successful."
MP3 community - Professional editorial staff
Anyone who has recorded their own song can upload it to mp3community. Professional editorial staff decide which of the uploaded songs make it on to the playlist and can then be judged by users. Ten of these songs are presented for selection each month, with user ratings helping users find the best choice according to their tastes. New titles are added every month, and the track list ranges from soul, through deep house to nu jazz.
MP3 community - MPEG4 technology
MP3 Community users can download their favourite songs in CD quality to their own MP3 players without any legal or technical restrictions. If you're looking for a particular artist, you can use the alphabetical sorting function. From October it will also be possible to list the titles by genre. October will also see the introduction of MPEG4 technology on the online platform. Artists who have filmed a video to accompany their songs will be able to upload the video in MPEG4 format together with the MP3 file. The video is then subjected to the same selection process as the MP3 file. The user then has the choice between downloading the song as an MPEG4 or an MP3 file.
MP3 community in English
The music content is augmented by detailed information about the art-ists, tour dates, and online newsletter and regular prize draws. Heretofore a purely German affair, Grundig is rolling out an international version of the MP3 Community at the World Consumer Electronics exhibition. From the end of September, an English language version of the website will be available at mp3community. "Music, like the internet, knows no boundaries", says Christian Struck. "By implementing our English language MP3 Community with the EU domain, we're opening our portal to all users across Europe and the world. We're very excited about the new MP3 and MPEG4 contribu-tions."
