Pantech announces marketing strategy

P antech Group (Sung Kyu, Lee, President&CEO of International Operations), announced its marketing strategy in Argentina by establishing its branch in the end of August. Pantech’s marketing in Argentine market started in December of 2005 supplying Pantech branded PG3210 phone to CTI Movil, the No.2 telecommunication operator, an affiliate of No.1 telecommunication group “America Movil” in Central and South America, has now overcome difficulties at initial time in the market and is showing fast growth.

Pantech camera handsets

Especially, PG1410, marketed via CTI has ranked No.1 in sales out of the bar type camera handsets supplied by CTI from June this year to now replacing Nokia and Motorola, exciting hot response. Pantech Group, through close partnership with CTI Movil recently, has concentrated its efforts on increasing awareness of Pantech's brand. Also, Pantech Group attended CIT Movil's convention event held in the February in Uruguay as the main sponsor and built stronger relationship with the company and local dealers as well. From 8th to 11th, last week, Pantech and CTI attended "Estilo Alcorts", the most popular fashion show in the region, as the main co-sponsor and attained satisfied achievement in enhancing Pantach's brand in more than 35,000 audiences nationwide and via various mass media including newspapers and broadcasting.

 

Pantech partnership with CTI Movil
Pantech Group, based on the branch established this time, is planned to increase market shares by active launches of new models in the latter half of the year in the key tone of sound partnership with CTI Movil. For this, Pantech Group is planned to promote aggressive marketing activities via the operator company and local distributions in the best time of sale in the latter half of the year, Mother's Day in October and Christmas season in December, with a goal of 7% market shares in the cellular phone sector at the end of this year, a time after just one year from entering this market, and market shares 10% in 2007.

 

Pantech handsets for Central & South America markets
Keon Chang, Kim, director of overseas operating department of Pantech Group, said: "Argentine market is the third market in scale in Central and South America markets following Brazil and Mexico, and 7% annual growth in subscriptions is seen recently with fierce competition among telecommunication service operators and manufacturers with surge demand of handsets recently." "And through branch establishment, Pantech Group has established a stepping-stone for leaping to a higher level in local market shares and it's become available to build up "Pantech Belt" connecting the markets of Argentina, Brazil and Chile and further based on that, more active promotion of marketing in neighboring countries as Colombia and Paraguay is expected."

 

CTI Movil telecommunication company
CTI Movil, to which Pantech Group is supplying its product, is the largest telecommunication company in Central and South America and it's also an affiliate of America Movil which has more than 100 million subscribers just in Central and South American markets. In addition, CTI Movil has also extended business activities in the neighboring countries such as Uruguay and Paraguay.
